Tanzanian Peaberry

An African coffee variety grown in Northern Tanzania close to Nairobi on the border of Kenya. This coffee is wild and gamey, the good kind of gamey that tells you it is not a domesticated coffee. Deep and rich in flavor with lots of spices and herbs plus some crunched-up flowers in this cup, tastes that linger on your palate. Fruity overtones as well that nicely balance the florals and spice.

Did you know the peaberry is produced in about 5% of a green bean crop? It is a partially fertilized coffee bean where only one of two seeds matures. Originally considered a defect, this is now preferred by many connoisseurs. The regular coffee bean is called a flat berry.
